Schloss Heidelberg

There's actually quite a lot of things to keep you busy here in Heidelberg, and one of the most obvious ones is our castle. I visited the ruins of our castle last Wednesday, luckily the weather was decent and the hike up the 300 steps didn't tire me out too much... It only costs four Euro to go inside, but even if you don't want to pay, there are plenty to explore outside!
First off, the view. You can see all of Heidelberg and beyond from the courtyard of the castle, and yes, it's quite beautiful. You can also walk around the grounds behind the castle. There is a large portion of the broken pieces of the castle here, and also a giant rose garden(seasonally, of course). There are two small ponds, now containing some interesting green blobs and funky looking water bugs, along with a giant statue of a man laying in one of them.
When you first enter the castle you are in a wide open courtyard. I only got to see a few parts of the inside while I was there. One was

the world's largest wine barrel--yes it's really big--and the second being the Apothetek Museum(medicine and such). It was all very beautiful and interesting, but the outside of the castle was definitely my favorite.
I also had my first Curry Wurst at the little Imbiss they have at the entrance! (You could say I'm really becoming a german now).
I would 100% recommend making the hike up to the castle, I'm not sure how you could say you've gone to Heidelberg without making at least one visit!
